Skeleton Gorge Hike
Difficulty: A+ ( easy to difficult )
Duration: ca 4 -5 hours
A classic amongst Cape Town hiking friends. This hike is very popular due to the immense diversity of fauna + flora together with bizarre rock formations. We start on the eastern side of Table Mountain, within the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and work our way up a densely forested Gorge.
After about 1 hour we stop for a little break and admire the fantastic view over the Cape Flats and all the way to the far opposite mountain range “Hottentots Hollands”.
We continue via the eastern side to the highest point of Table Mountain, “Maclear’s Beacon, 1086m.
The last section stretches along the entire plateau all the way to the cable car station. From here we take the cable car down or start our descend via the steep Kasteelsport.
